desde baltimore llega (llegaba, porque el disco salió en julio) wilderness, cuarteto que tiene como vocalista invitado a john lyndon... no, es james johnson, cuyas vocales intentan tomar el protagonismo en la mayoría de canciones de su autotitulado primer disco, un protagonismo que comparte junto a los ácidos punteos y estruendosas percusiones, que se suavizan gracias a la sutil presencia del bajo. es obvio que wilderness ha intentado hacer algo muy elaborado en este trabajo -les tomó tres años terminarlo-; pero es cierto también que el disco cae en una monotonía a partir del cuarto tema, con temas lentos en donde los sucios acordes suenan exactamente igual de principio a fin de cada tema, sin darle algun cambio que haga menos tedioso escucharlos, sin olvidar al vocalista, cuyas vocales suenan molestas al sonar muy por encima de los instrumentos. el disco proyecta un ambiente claustrofóbico y desesperante en la mayoría de tracks, y eso es lo mejor del disco, que recupera algo de variantes a partir de your hands. wilderness tiene un brillante uso de guitarras y muy buen tino para recrear sensaciones, pero aún tienen cosas que pulir. sin duda que ayuda bastante a escuchar a este disco el inicio, con la rítmica marginal is over, que sube siete posiciones hasta el puesto 13.
